UMA - A VERY WARM WELCOME TO THE CENTURION CLUB!
A good win for the Bois in a very enjoyable game over at Wooburn. Having lost the toss and been put into field, Sajid (8-1-28-2) and Vish (8-0-53-3) were quickly into their stride with Sajid removing one of their openers and Vish taking a couple down the other end. Our first change saw Hussain (5-0-32-0) and Ollie (7-0-38-1) contain their main batting partnership before Ollie took a key wicket in the last over of his first spell as Vish took one of his rare catches. Wooburn were 104-4 at the halfway point and it looked like we could be chasing 250. Uma (7-0-24-1) and Dhruv (5-1-22-0) had other ideas as their miserly spells kept the score in check. Sajid and Vish returned to finish the innings taking a wicket apiece on the way and we were left to chase 208 to win.
In reply, Paul and Ali got us off to a solid start before Paul was out for 11 with the score on 26. Alex came and went before Hussain joined Ali at the crease. Ali departed for 32 with the score on 53 which bought Uma to the crease. Hussain kept him company until he reached 25 and became the last wicket to fall with the score on 112 as Gaurav strode out to the middle. Uma, at times, gently caressed the ball around the field but also particularly seemed to enjoy hammering the ball into the trees and even once into the river on his way to his maiden century for Chesham Bois (106 n.o.). Gaurav (24 n.o.) secured the other end keeping Uma company and feeding him the strike as we passed their total in the 35th over.
