Toss: CB elected to field
Having won the toss (amazingly) and fielded first, Sachin (6-0-32-0) and Vish (8-2-32-1) opened up our attack. Peter (6-0-40-0) and Rajiv (8-1-26-3) were first change and kept them in check with a couple of wickets falling. David (2-0-7-0) and Akshay (6-0-37-0) were next into the attack before Uma (4-0-23-1) and the returning Rajiv closed out their innings on 199-5.
In reply, Paul and Alex fell relatively cheaply before Gaurav and Uma got together to get us up to 92 with Gaurav departed for 47. David joined Uma for a quick fire 15 and Sachin quickly followed David back to the pavilion with the score on 126. Peter joined Uma and looked to be cruising as they took the score up to 166 before Uma departed having made 44. Akshay (1), Rajiv (5) and Vish (5) helped Peter get the score up to 194 before the skipper headed to the crease as the last wicket with 6 needed for victory off 7 balls. Sadly the innings ended the very next ball as a legside delivery, missed by their keeper, headed towards the boundary. Having completed the first run, on a now dewy wicket (that’s my excuse) yours truly then fell flat on his face attempting to turn for the second run. Peter, by now on his way for the second run, completed a similar feat attempting to abort the second run and was run out by a little way. A good close match, but definitely one that got away in the end.
