Toss: CBCC elected to bat

Having won the toss and electing to bat, Paul (44) and Ali (10) opened with Paul scoring 16 off the first over !!! Ali caught a leading edge which brought Gurav (53) to the crease. He was soon joined by Uma (12) and both he and Gaurav would depart being caught whilst trying to find the trees with the sponge cricket ball we were using for this game. Alex (12) showed he was getting back to form with some cracking shots. A classy knock by Hussain (20) was accompanied by a well measured innings by Vish (20). Ashay (2) Rudy (5) completed our innings with Haider run out in pursuit of runs at the end. 193 all out, a decent score but possibly a little light.

In reply, Chesham got off to a good start with Vish (6-0-20-0) and Hussain 0-0-43-0) opened the attack with Vish being both frugal and luckless. The first wicket fell at 88 courtesy of a run out as Haider ( 1-0-12-0) and the returning Kugan (3-0-30-0) had a go at some well set batsmen. Uma (7-2-10-1) was called in and duly exerted some control in partnership with Gaurav (4-1-20-0). Rudy (3-0-25-0) and Ashay (3-0-23-1) had their spells with Ashay removing their top scoring batsman (Ollie) for 59. Chesham ultimately won by 6 wickets with 10 balls to spare. Whilst Chesham were always favourites after the early stages, we did hang in and make them work for their victory. Bomber would have enjoyed that one, as he would have also enjoyed the splendid tea!
