Having won the toss and elected to bat, JH(27) and Ali(33) go us off to a steady start. With the score on 70, JH got a useful one taking the top of off stump and Ali holed out at deep mid wicket. Luke(9) was untroubled until he played a carbon copy of Ali’s shot which bought Uma(57) and Gaurav(47) together. With the score on 182 – 3 after 29 overs, we were looking at a 250+ total. Unfortunately 182-3 became 197 -9 with the skipper the last man out with the score on 206.
In reply, Matt(6-0-2-44) and Luke(8-3-0-34) opened the attack with Matt removing both openers. Ollie(8-0-4-49) did most of the damage to their lineup whilst helpfully removing their fast scoring no3 along with Gaurav (6.3-0-1-44) holding down the other end. Uma(8-1-1-31) kept the pressure on and although we managed to get them to 168-8 at one point, we couldn’t prise out the last couple of wickets. A good game and a good start considering our level of match practice.
