Toss: LEY HILL elected to bat

Having arrived at the game with 9 players due to injury, we were quickly up to 11 as Jasia was recruited by telephone and Paul Green from Ley Hill went home to get his whites to return to play for us. Ley Hill, meanwhile, kindly lent us a couple of players while we assembled our team. As I lost the toss, Ley Hill elected to bat with Haider (8-0-24-1) and Rajiv (8-3-16-1) opening our attack. Rajeev removed one of the openers with Haider picking up their number 3 in his opening spell. Gaurav (7-1-26-2) then picked up the key wicket of the second opener while Ley Hills Paul Green (3-0-14-0) had a few overs at some of his team mates. Jasia (5-0-21-0) bowled with good pace and no luck as the chairman, Paul, turned his arm over conceding 24 off his 3, sometimes long, overs. Rudy (6-0-30-3) just bowled better and better in his spell, picking up three wickets as well as bowling the final over. This left us with a decent 172 runs to chase.

In reply, Paul (54) and the luckless Alex opened with Paul soon joined by Ali (72 N.O.). It was a fairly stress fee chase as Paul and Ali kept the scoreboard ticking over. Ali was eventually joined by Rajiv who is not noted for his defensive play and quickly made 10, while Gaurav (14 N.O.) got us home in the 37th over.

A very enjoyable day as, between us, Ley Hill and Chesham Bois put on a very good game of cricket.
