18/08 v Bovingdon (Away)

Result: LOST by 8 runs

Toss: BOVINGDON elected to bat

Having had 10 players at one point we arrived at Bovingdon with only 8 for one reason or another. Bovingdon helpfully lent us a player which made it a 9 vs 10 match.

Bowling first, Haider(4-0-38-0) and Hussain(5-0-22-0) opened our attack with Haider taking a wicket with the opening ball. JH(3-0-15-2) and Uma(6.4-1-17-2) were first change with the mission to remove their entrenched number 2 and 3 who had taken the score near to 70 in 10 overs. A flurry of wickets achieved this and the scoring rate slowed considerably in the remaining overs. Rudy(3-0-15-0) and our borrowed player Pervez(5-0-14-1) kept it tight with Akshay(7-0-24-4) proving difficult to play. Bovingdon closed on 147 all out in the 33rd over with Hussain taking 3 catches along the way.

In reply, JH proved to be the mainstay of our innings. Hussain(5), Pervez(30) and Suresh(11) all keeping JH company as we built the score. Our chase took a big hit when Uma was run out for 7. JH was finally out for 65, easily highest score of the day and nearly double the nearest other score. Akshay(11) Haider and Rudy all fell to the returning opening quick bowler as we were all out in the final over for 139.

A good fun game of cricket with both sides in the game until the final ball.
