Toss: LM elected to field
Having lost the customary toss, we were put in on a fantastic looking wicket over at Chesham’s ground. Alex fell early on which bought Gaurav to the wicket. Paul followed for 10 and then Uma (27) joined Gaurav to steady the ship. A slow but steady flow of wickets followed but fortunately not Gaurav’s as he posted 153 on our way to 249 for 9 with Gaurav finally out going for one last 6 in the final over.
In reply, Matt (7-1-23-2) was his usual accurate and economic self whilst adding a few mph and Sachin (5-0-25-0) ensured their run chase got off to a very modest start. Peter (6-1-19-0) and Vish (5-0-13-1) dispelled any thoughts they had that our 1st change attack was going to be any easier than the openers. David (2-0-19-0) and Akshay (3-0-14-1) had a couple of overs to get the rust out of their shoulders. Like Peter and Vish, Uma was super economic with his (5-2-12-1) and Gaurav (2-0-13-1) completed the 35 overs.
