Toss: GMP elected to bat

The skipper maintained his 100% record for the toss and Chesham Bois were duly inserted into the field. Great Missenden sported a strong opening partnership with their openers putting on 137 (retired) and 60 as Sachin, Akshay, Luke and Areeb took their turns to try and contain or dismiss them. As one of their openers retired, Uma and Arjun took their turn with Uma (5-1-6-2) removing two wickets before heavy rain descended in the 33rd over forcing an excellent early tea with the score on 207. In trying to make a game of it, Gt Missenden sportingly declared and suggested a reduced 35 over game to chase the score down.

Batting was always likely to be more difficult as the wicket had been uncovered during the rain break. Paul and Luke disappearing for ducks certainly made a big hole in our ability to chase down the total. Alex(9) nailed down one end as he kept Uma(49) company until the score reached 56. Uma fell with the score on 66 leaving Arjun(16) and Tom(21) to take up the challenge. Arjun was out for a well crafted 16 with the score on 91 with Tom and Akshay(12) the last wickets to fall leaving the total on 128 after 25 overs. Areeb and Sachin were at the crease as rain once again descended leading to the match being abandoned. Chesham Bois needed around 80 runs off the last 10 overs with 3 wickets remaining so probably fair to say that the rain was our friend at that point.
