11/06 v Chiltern Warriors (Home)

PW

Result: Lost by 8 wickets

Toss: CB elected to bat

Read that bit above - In the absence of Jed, we won the toss on the hottest day of the year so far. And that was as good as it got!!

If it wasn't for Luke, scoring a very patient 81, and cameos from Akshay (21) and Rajiv (15no), we wouldn't have got many runs!! We welcomed back Lenny, for his first game in a couple of years, but after looking good, he unfortunately pulled his calf and couldn't walk - get well soon. Sachin got the first golden duck of the season, quickly followed by Matt. No-one really got going.

By the time we came to bowl, the weather had totally changed. Luckily, we missed the centre of the storm, but in rainy and dark conditions and with thunder rolling around, the target for the Warriors was revised to 110 in 30 overs. Uma struck in the first over, Rajiv got the other wicket to fall, thanks to a smart catch from Sachin. As it got darker and wetter, the winning runs were hit in the 19th over. Our unbeaten run may have come to an end, but we battled to the end.
