After a very solid start to the season where we posted 200+ scores in all our innings, we finally had a bad day at the office. Having elected to bat, Paul was somehow bowled for 6 and then Ali(29), Alex(16) and Gaurav(37) pushed the score along as we reached a handy 105-3 off 20 overs. Sadly 105-3 turned into 133 all out in the 30thover with Uma(5), Bennett(8), Vaibav(6) and Akshay(5) providing the only resistance.
In reply, Uma(3-0-13-0) and Akshay(5-0-33-0) searched for an initial breakthrough. Vaibhav(4-0-17-1) and Woody(2-0-20-2) were next up with Uma catching athletically off Vaibhav’s bowling to remove one of the openers. Bennett was unlucky not to get a wicket in his only over. Vinod(2.5-1-10-1) took the final wicket to fall with Gaurav(3-0-31-0) rounding off the bowling effort as Widmer End cruised to victory. A loss but, as always, a very enjoyable game of cricket with the guys from Widmer End, who also enjoy a good beer in the sunshine afterwards.
