10/07 v Chiltern Warriors (Home)

Updated: Jul 18, 2022

Result: Won by 111 runs

Toss: CBCC elected to bat

Having won the toss by mutual agreement and batted, Paul was joined by Rajiv in their opening partnership. Rajiv was dusting off his bat for the first time this season and wasted little time as he raced to 49 hitting 4 sixes and 5 fours on the way. Ollie got one that kept very low before Uma (34) joined Paul in the middle. Paul (17) could have done with a DRS review as he was adjudged LBW with the score on 90. Gaurav (8) was followed by Alex who hit a well crafted 24 and along with Ali (43) added a crucial 69 for the 6th wicket. Tom (11 N.O.) and Sachin (6 N.O.) saw off the final overs and we closed on 226 for 9.

In reply, wickets fell regularly for Amersham Rangers and they never really built any momentum. Sachin (5-0-25-2) and Rajiv (5-0-25-1) opened the bowling with Ollie (6-0-15-2) and Uma (3-0-12-3) filling out the middle overs taking 5 wickets while being very frugal with any runs conceded. A first bowl for our debutant Tom (2-0-11-1) saw him claim a wicket whilst Ali (2-0-10-1), released from his keeping duties by Hussain, took the final wicket.

A good win and a very good fielding display, I can’t remember a chance going begging. A catch and a stumping for Hussain was supported by catches for Gaurav, Sachin and Uma (2). 2 prizes were awarded during the game, Gaurav, fielding at 1st slip, for catch of the season with a full length mid air diving catch that would have gone straight to 3rdslip if we had one as well as Uma, for casual catch of the season, as he calmly plucked a head high, boundary bound drive out of the air with one hand on his follow through.

A good win, well done all.
