09/07 v Ebury Strollers (Home)

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

Result: Won by 41 runs

Toss: CB elected to bat

Having not lost the toss, Chesham Bois duly elected to bat. Paul (34) and Alex (16) got us off to a steady start on a wicket that was a little 2 paced after the rain in the week, putting on 48 for the first wicket before Alex was unluckily stumped off the keepers pads. Ali (83) quickly pressed the run accelerator pedal with the score reaching 98 by the time Paul was out. Fresh from his century last week, Uma joined Ali as they raised the scoring level yet again. Ali finally perished in his search for runs, but not before he reached 83 in a partnership of 116 runs with Uma. Uma batted through to reach 60 not out with Tom 5 not out at the other end as we closed on 237 for 4 off our 40 overs. Another decent total on the board.

In reply, Akshay and Rajiv set about containing and dismantling the Ebury batting lineup. The top 3 were successfully removed in their spells with Akshay, 6-1-30-1 and Rajiv, 8-1-24-2. Ollie (8-0-50-1) and Sachin (8-0-43-2) then had the dubious honour of bowling the middle overs against batsmen who were, by now, very keen to get on with things. Ebury were always there or there abouts on the run rate but Sachin took a key wicket by bowling their top scorer. Uma (4.1-0-29-2) and Haider (2-0-16-0) came on to mop up their tail with Ebury closing on 196 in the 37th over.

What Jed failed to mention: Two superb, game changing runouts from the Chairman!! One a direct hit from the boundary!!
