Toss: CB elected to bat
Having won the toss, this week we elected to bat first on a damp drying track. Batting wasn’t easy and Paul and Alex departed fairly early. Gaurav (26) and Uma (62) applied themselves to ease the score up to 66 before Gaurav departed. David appeared briefly before Roshan (8) joined Uma and played nicely until an unfortunate run out with the score on 93. Rajiv came in and accelerated the scoring rate before holing out having made 16. Peter briefly joined Uma who was watchfully accumulating runs as Vish (17) joined the party. Uma was finally out for 62 followed by Vish and Sachin as we posted 154 off 25 of our 40 overs.
In reply, Widmer End St Margarets were ultimately bowled out for 118 in a particularly tidy fielding display by the Bois. Sachin 8-1-34-1 and Vish 6-2-18-1 used the conditions well in their opening spells to keep them under pressure with Vish accounting for one of their openers and Sachin their no 3. Our first change bowlers with the meanest of figures, Rajiv 6-1-16-2 and Peter 7-2-13-5, effectively ended any likelihood of an opposition win. They were backed up with some virtually flawless catching and fielding as Roshan 4.4-0-21-1 mopped up the last wicket.
