Having won the toss on a slightly drying wicket, Chesham Bois elected to bat. Bowling conditions were a little helpful as Paul found out being bowled for 3. This bought Luke to the crease who proved to be the mainstay of our innings. At the other end, Alex chipped in with a useful 12 before the slightly variable bounce caught him out. Gaurav(22) scored quickly before nicking one behind and Uma(9) didn’t quite find the middle of the bat as he searched for another 6. Mak hang around for a tenacious 3, and Bennet looked more and more at home out in the middle as he worked his way to a handy 20. Karthik(10), Pete(7) and Vish(6) all added useful runs but Luke’s 88, whilst not his most fluent, was certainly invaluable in the conditions. 191 all out in 37 overs.

In reply, Vish(5-0-2-10) was fast, miserly and accurate as he removed their no1 and 3 batsmen. His opening partner, Karthik(5-0-1-38), meanwhile, removed the key wicket of their no3 with the help of a cool headed catch by Alex. Uma(5-0-5-2) was even more unplayable than Vish as Peter(6-1-17-3) steadily removed wickets from the other end. Bennett came on for a couple of overs at the end to get some practice under his belt, and ultimately ended up taking the last 2 wickets finishing with 2 for 11 off his 2 overs.

A good win and 191 was a good score on that wicket backed up by a tidy performance in the field. More importantly, we wrested the trophy back from Chesham in what was, as always, a very enjoyable game of cricket to be in.
