Result: LOST by 16 runs

Toss: CB elected to bowl

An enjoyable match even if we did lose. Having won the toss and again electing to field, Haider 5-0-38-1 and Gaurav 5-0-34-1 opened our attack against an aggressive opening pair, including Peter. Haider removed Peter and Gaurav his replacement towards the end of their spells. Shebna 4-0-25-2 and Areeb 7-0-41-2 replaced the opening pair, slowing the scoring rate and reducing their remaining wickets. Ollie 3.4-1-14-4 was frugal and difficult to play as he mopped up the other 4 wickets including their opener who had made 65.The target 159.

Batting was not going to be easy and in reply Alex found out about the variable bounce and Paul (14) the movement off the wicket. Ali (21) pushed the score along although timing wasn’t easy. Shebna and Ashay soon followed as the mainstay of our innings Uma (63) strode to the crease. Gaurav (11), Areeb (7), Ollie (1) and Haider (7) all kept Uma company as Uma was finally out in the last over 16 runs short of our target.

A good fun game and some good practice heading on to our next match.
