Toss: The Lee elected to field
When we arrived at the picturesque ground at The Lee, it was raining! At that point there didn't seem to be any chance that we would get a game in, everywhere was soggy! Thankfully, both teams were determined to play, which eventually we did!
Starting just before 3.00, we decided to play a T20 game. Having been put into bat, Matt was promoted into the pinch hitting role to open with Alex. After the end of the first over, we were wanting it to hammer down with rain again. Matt edged the first ball to slip - to be fair, he would have been the only person tall enough to reach the ball, for most of us it would have been over our heads! Alex was then dropped first ball and caught behind second ball. 2 for 2.
From then, solid innings from Guarav (22), Uma (37), Paul (20) and Ali (26) kept us up with the rate to eventually finish on a very respectable 136 - 9 from our 20 overs.
With a strong bowling line up, we felt confident that 136 was going to be enough, which was proved right. Rotating the bowlers in short spells, The Lee never managed to get ahead of the rate, finishing 14 runs short. All seven bowlers deserve a mention, backed up with some tight fielding, an enjoyable afternoon all round.
