A rain enforced draw against Ley Hill in another really enjoyable game. Having won the toss, Paul and Gaurav got us off with an 80 run partnership before Paul fell for 35 having become the second highest Chesham Bois run scorer in the process. Peter continued in his father’s footsteps with Gaurav(60). When Gaurav was out, Peter swiftly ran Alex out for 2 before settling into a steady partnership with Uma until Peter himself was out for 64. Vishal(5 no) and Uma(33 no) took us to a handy total of 217-5.
In reply, Vaibhav (8-1-32-0) and Jitender (5-0-25-1) opened our attack with Jitender removing one of their openers with his first ball. Ley Hill had called upon the services of Daksh, who we know, and the fate of Daksh would almost certainly determine the fate of the game. Prakash (4-0-20-1) and Uma(4-0-21-1) were the next to try and remove Daksh and Prakash did get the other opener. Peter (8-0-47-2) removed a couple in his spell while Gaurav ( 6-0-23-1) and the returning Uma were the last to bowl. Uma removed Daksh, the catch taken by Peter at long on as we all held our breath, setting up what would have been an interesting few overs with Ley Hill needing 30 off 30 balls with 2 wickets left. Sadly, the rain intervened and a draw was declared.
