Batting first, Paul was soon back in the pavilion, followed by Alex (4). Samar (31) carried on where he left off last week with the bat and, along with Suresh (56), pushed the score into the 80s.

Jitender (69) kept up the scoring rate until he lost Suresh at 147, at which point he was joined by Luke (69). A 103-run partnership ensued before Jitender eventually departed. Uma (5), Hrishi (1) and Dhimaj (5) were Luke’s partners until he was finally dismissed, leaving us on what would prove to be our final score of 279.

A good total, but one that was well within the range of Ollie’s team.

In reply, Abrar was the star of our attack, finishing with excellent figures of 8-2-33-2. Hrishi (8-0-61-1) bowled much better than his figures suggest, as everyone who bowled was immediately put under pressure.

Dhimaj (7-0-54-1), Samar (3-0-26-0), Peter (4-0-28-0), Uma (6-0-40-2) and Luke (1-0-11-0) rounded out our attack, with Uma taking two wickets.

Chesham reached their target with a couple of overs to spare, finishing on 283-6.

A loss, but plenty of positives to take from the game. We played well and were certainly up against the youngest and most talented team we’re likely to face this season.
