Another nail-biting game and they’re getting closer, a 2 run win this time. Having won the toss, Paul and Gaurav opened our batting. Paul left with the score on 24 having demonstrated a masterclass in picking out their fielders. Gaurav was joined by Uma and together they pushed the score up to 132 before Gaurav was out for 87. Uma continued to post 67 accompanied by Ollie (27) before Luke (16) and Ali took us to 213. Vaibhav (13) and Ali (19 no) pushed the score up to 254, a little less than we had hoped for at the halfway point.
Ebury can bat and so it proved the case, particularly with one of their openers. Vaibhav (8-0-47-0) and Oscar (8-0-71-0) came under some severe pressure in their opening spells, particularly with the short legside boundary. Luke (6.2-1-37-3) and Uma (8-1-28-2) then exerted some control as Ollie critically removed their century scoring opener in his spell (8-0-67-3). Ebury seemed to have the game under control in spite of losing regular wickets but with the last pair at the crease needing 3 runs to win from 1.4 overs, a mix up between the batsmen resulted in a run out.
