We came up against a Lee side in good batting form. Vaibhav(8-0-74-1) and Hrishi(8-0-62-0) had their work cut out trying to contain them in their opening spells. Arjun(8-0-75-2) bowled his way into some form becoming ever more frugal and taking the key wicket of their opener. Samar(8-0-3-40) was on it from the start and with Arjun began to haul the run rate back from the nearly 10 an over. Ollie(4-0-28-2) and Uma (4-0-24-0) rounded out our 40 overs leaving us a challenging 340 to chase.

The wicket was obviously dry but it did seem to misbehave a lot more when we batted with the occasional ball clearing the batters helmet followed by one which threatened their ankles. That’s the excuses out of the way and I wasn’t even playing. Paul(16) and Ollie (18) set off on the chase with Paul again playing anchor. Alex made 2 and when Gaurav was out for very little, our chase was looking like a distant number. Uma (23) made a dent in the deficit and Seb made a much bigger hole in the deficit with a customarily brisk top scoring 54. Suresh made 8 as our talented tail wagged with 11 for Arjun, 23 for Hrishi and 47 not out for Samar, rounding off his man of the match performance for us.

254 all out and a little short of 340 but if we scored 254 every week, we’d be in the game and pretty happy.
